Well hello, there! I see you’ve stumbled upon my humble little space on the internet. Since you’ve come all this way, I suppose I should do a small introduction . . .

Hi! I’m Noelle Peterson. I am also known as “Noelle – the Poet” on several social media platforms (and in fact, if you type in “noellethepoet [dot] com” you will also be brought to this very website). I am a poet (in case that wasn’t clear) but I am also a writer, mom, artist, and overall kind-hearted person who tries to be the best version of myself that I can each and every day. I am a positive, happy, light-hearted person who loves to find little bits of magic in everyday life, which I then attempt to translate it into some form or another in order to share with the rest of the world somehow. Usually that comes easiest to me in the form of writing poetry.

Speaking of poetry – you may already know this, but I have a book of my poetry coming out soon this fall! I’m really excited to share this collection with you. It’s a combination of mostly poetry with some short prose in the form of journal entries and meanderings scattered throughout the book that offer a bit of context for the meaning behind certain poems and how they came about. The book as a whole creates a bit of a journey from start to finish through emotional healing, and along the way it spans four main themes that are broken into different sections: Grief and loss processing, self-worth, self-empowerment, and self-love and positivity. Within each section, the reader will hopefully see a secondary path that’s been laid out as I use the medium of the written word to explore my way through each concept and begin to work through tough subjects such as depression, low self-esteem, and fear; with the end result showcasing uplifting motivation to carry on, renewed confidence, and a balance in self-awareness.

I’m really looking forward to getting this book out into the world! Right now it’s undergoing the final tweaks to interior formatting (in fact I just got the official first proof of the mockup, which came back with several edits that needed fixing, but c’est la vie), and I’m expecting a proof of the back cover to come in shortly before the end of the month!

This entire process is new to me, and I am – by default – an impulsive, take-charge type of person, who wants to get that ball rolling and see it move . . . so being put into the position of “hurry up and wait” has been a large lesson in patience on my end. I am starting to see that ball begin to turn, however, so that’s enough to keep me placated for now. In the meantime, I’ve found solace in things like building this website and coming up with new ways to promote my book, and it’s been a fun-filled month in that regard!

I used to work in marketing communications, and I’m semi-practiced in how to engage the audience, however I’ve never been comfortable in marketing my own work . . . So if you’ve been following my journey on TikTok (where all of this kind of started), you’ll understand what I mean when I say that in the last year I think I’ve come leaps and bounds as far as putting myself out there. I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished so far, and I’m thrilled to see where I can go from here. But I wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of you, my friends. I am eternally grateful that you’ve decided to give me a chance, and that you continue to help lift me up when I start to bob to the wayside. A writer can be the greatest author in the world but without their fans and supporters, that title would mean absolutely nothing . . .

So thanks. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.

And now that we’re all misty eyed and gooey, I’ll leave you with one last bit of funsies: I am starting a mailing list! That’s right! You can sign up for the mailing list in order to be entered into fantastically awesome giveaways, and get exclusive sneak-peaks at some of my upcoming projects before they’re broadcast here. In fact, if you hurry and sign up before the 10th of September (it’s just about two weeks away from where I’m sitting), you could be entered into a drawing to receive a digital preview of the introduction to Finding Home, which gives background context as to why this book was written and how it all came together! Sounds great, doesn’t it? You should totally sign up for the mailing list . . .

And that’s all I’ve got in the way of news for now! I hope you’ve enjoyed this little intro and are just as excited as I am for what’s next! It’s going to be a very interesting (and hopefully, super fun) next few months.

Happy Thursday!
xo
